Ravani with coconut

2/3 cup oil
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2/3 cup milk
1 1/2 cups coconut
1 1/2 cups flour
1 stp baking power

For the syrup:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups of water
1 tsp lemon juice
Lemon peel

Beat the sugar and oil well together in the mixer and add the eggs one by one; then add the milk and the coconut.  Finnaly, mix together the baking power  with the flour and add it gradually to the mixture, continuing to beat for a while.
Put the mixture into on oiled and lightly floured baking dish or mould and bake in a moderate oven for about one hour. In the meantime, prepere the syrup by boiling the water with the sugar and lemon peel for about five minutes.
When the ravani is ready, remove it from the tin and pour oven the syrup.
