Cake with apples

1/2 cup oil
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
4 eggs
1/2 envelope of baking powder
2 1/2 cups of finely chopped apples
1 cups walnuts
a little cagnoc

Beat together the sugar with the oil in your mixer. Add the egg yolks, and then the whites beaten separately to a stiff meringue. Sprinkle the apples with cognac, scatter 2 tbs of sugar over them and add them to the egg mixture with walnuts.
Finnaly, mix together the baking powder with the flour and add it slowly. Pour the mixture into an oiled cake tin and bake in a moderate oven for about 1 hour.
